Chapter 16
15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. And the people encamping on Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines. 16 The people in the camp heard it said, "Zimri has conspired and has also struck the king." So they made Omri, captain of the army, king over Israel on that day in the camp. 17 Omri went up and all Israel with him from Gibbethon, and they besieged Tirzah. 18 When Zimri saw that the city had been captured, he went into the king's palace and burned the king's house over himself with fire, and he died. 19 Because of his sin offerings, which he sinned by doing evil in the eyes of the LORD, by walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he made Israel sin. 20 The rest of the words of Zimri and the conspiracy that he conspired—are they not written in the book of the words of the days for the kings of Israel?
